GRRRRR!!

Car is due a service soon, and because I have a warranty I need a stamp in the book.
Now i'm perfectly capable of doing everything in the service apart from a few bits like spark plugs as I don't currently have the tools (however I could get the tools and easily do the job).

So, a dealer service is £180, which for a dealer service I don't think is that bad for a complete oil/filter change plus whatever other crap they're supposed to do.

Local "euro" specialist is £140, but doesn't include as much as the Dealer service (the bits missing I can't do myself without tools so it'd end up costing more than the dealer service).

Kwik Fit is cheaper still... but its Kwik Fit.. so... no.

I could probably do the major parts of the service for about £70-80, so its looking at around £100 for the convenience and a stamp!

Bloody cars

personally i would never get a dealer service

    rip off iMO

when i had my RS Megane, the dealer service was £280 !

i use a local garage who i trust, who charge £120 for a full service (Wayne Conelly)

that said, i like your idea of servicing yourself. I guess if you plan to keep the car until its relatively worthless, then what have you got to lose by servicing yourself ? i also object to paying so much money for something i oculd easily do myself, but if you ever plan to sell the car, you need those stamps...

You could always get a stamp made. Nothern Monkey Car Servicing Ltd...

Lol thats not a bad idea

I've decided I am servicing myself now anyways. Going to do a different thing each week/month depending on cost, starting with air, pollen and oil filters, followed by gearbox oil, brakes and spark plugs.
Should cost less, be more thorough, and I can ensure that everything is changed with the correct/better quality parts.

It'll need to go into the euro place for a bushing check anyways as I think there is a tiny bit of play somewhere which will probably cost a fortune :x

erm you dont invalidate you're warrenty by using OEM parts and fitting them yourself, you just dont get the stamp in the book, but if you keep all your receipts i cant see the problem!

I would buy a car as long as i could see a service history, dealer or not
