foldable tyres

I have just bought a pair of Kenda Karma Stick-E foldable tyres which are superb, however they are an absolute pain to get 'seated'. After repairing punctures and replacing inner tubes on rides out i can't get the tyre bead to sit right, the only way is to pump up the tyre to well over the usual presure until the bead 'pops' into place, and then lowering the presure afterwards.
Im i doing something wrong or is this normal?
