Been waiting all week for the first round of the DH, just as its about to go live their site goes down.

So it looks like a free trip to SA for Rob Warner and the rest of the broadcast team

Brilliant!

    that was superb.

the commentary was as gash as ever (am i the only person who knows what funny is?) but still better than the clowns who know nowt about DH racing on eurosport.

Gwins time was outstanding, i thought it was some kind of mistake!

    WOW, awesome race.
Dirtydog11, quit your bitchin. They're doing it on what is effectively a shoestring budget. Just be glad that they're covering it AT ALL.
  • I enjoyed that.

I have to say Freecaster do put on pretty good coverage. I had far less issues with signal dropping out than I did for most of the races last year.

I dont understand why extreme sports channel don't put it on though. Surely it'd draw more viewers than pro-bull riding or 12 year old episodes of "nomads" or whatever poo they had on instead of this.

I think it's pretty clear from what they actually show on "xtreme" that they aren't really into extreme sports at all.

well watched that, shame you only get to see parts of the runs, I think Cedric Garcia was my man of the match, a 1 handed table top at that speed and then a little whip on the next jump, what a legend! 8)

Enjoyed the DH (on catch-up... went out riding most of the day), but what's with the 'interviews'.... half the time the mic wasn't on. Sometimes the questions are so bad they are good - like last year when he told Thomas Vanderhamm the new Anthill film was good and asked if he'd seen it yet

Didn't see any of the women's race, unfortunately - I'd have liked to cheer Tracy to the win.

Everyone in the top 10 was apart from Fabien Barel. I have a feeling he was the guy that could barely stand when he got off his bike.

I'm surprised they used dropper posts as I thought the seat tube on most DH frames would be way too small to fit a dropper in (and still have enough drop in it to be useful).

The v10 would be one that I'd assume wouldn't fit. I suppose though if you don't run it with the saddle all the way down, you'd be alright. I always assumed the dropper went all the way into the frame with the seals just above the seat clamp.

Rockshox Reverb there (dunno who the rider is).

Edit: Just realised you were asking if the v10s in the race had droppers. I'd assume so because isn't that what Steve Peat and the other syndicate riders have?

Edit2: Peaty did run a dropper but it was most of the way out of the frame: http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/6492748/ Is it just me or is that an exceptionally small frame?

My mistake, the pinkbike article says only 1 person on the podium ran without a dropper. Steve Peat had a Reverb (I think). http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/6492748/

Possibly. I think their use is limited to this course though. No other course has a 40 second section of flat-out pedalling. A lot of teams had to buy droppers when they got here because they didn't anticipate how hard it was going to be.

but people love to keep up with the pros, i reckon there will be loads turning up at DH tracks all over the country now.

A lot of them do seem to ride short frames.

I noticed one shot of Gee standing with his Commie, not sure if it was the angle of the shot or if he was also riding a small frame, but it looked like some kid had asked him to hold his bike while he went to get an ice-cream
