Getting rigid...

Has anyone here switched from suspension to rigid forks? Would you switch back?
I'm an MTBer from way back (pre-suspension) so I'm used to picking my lines even when riding for squishy forks. My current 29er has Rock Shox Dart 3's on it which are heavy an noodley.
I'm considering switching to a Surly Karate Monkey fork.

I have a fully rigid Marin which I take off road occasionally (mainly used as a road/commuting bike).
Compared to my full bouncer, it ain't fun. I'd forgotten how your arms go numb with the amount of shaking.
It's purely a comfort thing, of course, and maybe just personal to me, but I've got used to the smoother ride and wouldn't go back.0
