It just struck me that I've not seen anything about him in a while. I remember his brief return in the Tour of Britain last year. Having checked the Saxxo Bank website, he has no results listed for 2011. Has anyone seen any articles saying what is going on with him now. It would be sad if he never makes it back full-time into the peloton.

He did a one day race (Hel van het Mergelland) at the beginning of April, but didn't finish.

He is on twitter for those that way inclined:

From his tweets he definitely sounds like he's on the way back.

I spoke with him briefly at the Hel van het Mergelland. He looked in reasonable shape but didn't seem too optimistic, saying he felt so so.

All credit to Riis and SaxoBank for sticking with the lad through thick and thin.
Hope he can continue building up though- it doesn't happen overnight, but he's such a talent.

Riis has his critics, but in this case he's shown himself to be a first class man.

I am quite impressed how Saxo have kept supporting him. They cannot expext him to be anywhere near shape till the end of his contract (ends this year no?)

Be interesting to see what happens after this year. Hope he keeps at it!

I didn't realise the Hel van Het Mergelland was his first race of the season. It is a tough one; lots of DNFs. Good luck to him for the rest of the year.
