Just about to build up my first mtb (done a lot of road biking). I've got some slightly used SRAM doubetaps for straight bars in the store box. Would it be a good idea to use these with a SRAM mtb 10s rear mech?
If I did this, would a double chainset on the front work (presume I'd need a triple set up with a bash guard on the outer or do they do specific double mtb chainsets?).

Or should I get a normal triple set-up and use 8 or 9s?

I don't want to spend a fortune either way.

Thanks in advance for any help.

yes sram do MTB doubles. (not for use with a bash)

yes they will work with a Sram 10spd rear mech. (presuming 10spd Double taps)

    it is up to you.

the SRAM website is pretty good on what is compatible with what.
