Trying to find some budget hydraulic brakes and I can find the Shimano Deore M535 for £50 on ebay and the Deore m595 for around £55.
In the lbs around town the m595 seems to be quite a bit more then the 535.
Both get good reviews.
Whats the difference and which one should I get if they are both the same price on ebay?

Ive got a follow up question below!

Ah, that clears it up a bit. Thanks for the link.
So they are pretty much the same brakes. I'll assume that newer means they have been improved slightly.0 -
I got new 595's for the bike and relegated the old 525's to the trainer bike. Ironically the old ones had the Ashima SOS pads in them and are still much better than the shimano OE pads in the 595's :?0

My bike has a Shimano Altus ST-EF60 gear shifter.

Does anyone know if the shifter is compatible with the Deore M595 levers?0 -
you will need new shifter pods."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

So it doesnt really matter what brand shifters I buy as long as they are stand alone ones like the Shimano Deore Rapidfire, right?

well the brand matters as it needs to be Shimano."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
