Wheel weight.. (now help me choose the colour combo!)

I don't have any way of weighing my current wheelset, so this is a stab in the dark...

But does anyone know the approx weigh of an XT hub with Mavix xm719 rims and DT swiss DB spokes?

I need a baseline to go off!

Pretty sure it's less than a ton.
I'm going to venture a guess, and say, potato grams.

so then

Rim is 475g

Spokes 586g for a pack of 64 spokes (therefore 293g per wheel)

Hub front 180g
Hub Rear 369g

Totals
Front 948g
Rear 1137g

Thats using the quoted weight from the manufacturers by parts and doesnt include tube/tyre/rotors but does include spoke nipples

I'd add 5% to that for compound error and what not. So about 2200g. What's your budget?

DT Comp 14/15g are 382g for 64x264mm. Rear hub could be a bit less, latest XT centrelock is 330g. Also need to add in nipples: DT brass are about 80g for 64 2.0

Fair enough! Maybe a bit heavier than I thought, buy they're cracking wheels!

I'll be selling the xt on 719 and maybe getting an evo wheelset from superstar as I'll need 12mm rear hub.
Claimed weight of 1950g with plain guage spokes.

Plain guage? Don't bother - ask them to build with double butted.

well i've chose a set of Superstar, just gotta decide on colour for when they get stock back in!



1) Red hubs, black rims, white DB spokes
2) Red hubs, white rims, black DB spokes
3) Black hubs, black rims, red DB spokes
4) White hubs, black rims, white DB spokes

I've ruled out white rims, I don't think they'll suit the bike tbh.

Got to keep it classy and not gawdy. Red hubs work on some bikes and you could probably get away with it BUT I think Black White Black combo would work perfectly.
