Front brake Rubbing!

Just stuck a new front rotor on my mtb and its rubbing pretty badly. I've cleaned the disc properly and the pads and its straight enough, the problem seems to be that the pads are sitting too close to the disc.
Is there any way i can make the pads sit like .5mm or so further away from the disc?

    reset the pads and then let it all bed in again.

    some rubbing is to be expected at the start.
