Strange question about... Jerseys...

Hi,

So I am new to road cycling but am really getting into it, so a couple of weeks ago I bought a brilliant lycra bibshort off of Altura. I've got a couple of cheap specialised jerseys, which are bang on the right size, but they tend to flap a bit. I was wondering whether cycling jerseys also come in lycra material or whether polyester is all that's on the market? This is probably a stupid question, but I have no idea!

Thanks for your help!

J

If they're a snug fit jerseys shouldn't flap. Sounds like your jerseys maybe are a little big.

You can get race fit/aero fit jerseys from the likes of castelli, sportful, pearl izumi, campagnolo, mavic, mcipollini, but they only look good if you are slim. Most jerseys otherwise, I believe are made using polyester, and elastane.

Not necessarily, if you are going fast enough, and wearing a normal polyester jersey, or you have a head wind, you do get a fair bit of flap.

I prefer a more "relaxed" fit jersey than a "race" fit one. They seem(to me) to be a bit more comfortable. No tugging and pulling. That sort of thing. In any case I doubt that
a little flapping is anything to worry about. OK, maybe if you trying to shave some seconds off your time trial, but for training and general riding get a jersey or two or three
that fit you well and feel good, then ride.

Get an all in one body suit. Go on, you know you wanna......(but the wife/GF etc may think otherwise)

Jerseys with full length zips tend to 'flap' more than short zip jerseys. I've had this problem recently too. I tend to go with anything that looks like it might be race fit these days (I'm a pretty scrawny guy)
