Hello again all , need some help with my riding motivation.
The story so far....
Just returned from a 6 month round the world trip ( hardly a cause for complaint i know )
where i did plenty of mtbing in some great locations , USA , Hawaii , New Zealand on trails that were mainly smooth , fast and great fun and couldn't wait to get out and ride on each occasion.
Now back home and suffering from a big fat dose of cant be arsed.
Ironically was really looking forward to riding on my own bike on familiar tracks prior to my return.
Plus i've been out on 4-5 rides in 2 weeks since getting home in an effort to get back into the groove of UK riding but it all just seems a total chore.
Inspiration or words of wisdom welcomed.

why not leave it for a while until you're really missing it and then give it another go?
maybe do some road stuff to keep the legs nice and chipper.Whether you're a king or a little street sweeper, sooner or later you'll dance with the reaper.

You're pandering to his attention seeking needs. All he really wanted to do was post on the internet about his wonderful trip and make us all jealous. He needs to fuck right off and just back out thereTrail fun - Transition Bandit

Nah, you're right, you've done it all.
Everything you do in mtb'ing from now on will be but a shadow of what you've done and will bring you painful memories of moments that won't come back ever.
I'll save you the grief and for 10£ I'll keep your bike out of your sight and in good use!
I know... I'm just too kind for my own good! 8)0 -
Visit your local bad rep pub and drink there every day for a week, I will guarantee after a week of hanging with angry losers and fat dead beats your mojo will return.......... Or you'll join em 8)Don't think, BE:0

Try riding in the dark fr a different experience, especially without lights. That or gloat elsewhere.0

I had that a bit last yr too after a trip to the States, Slickrock is kinda hard act to follow. Truth is we have some fantastic riding in this country, for me it was the natural singletrack on a summers eve with big views that got me back into it. Get urself up to the Lakes when the forecast is good and ul soon get the bug back...!Couple of 5 spots, a hummer and a handjob.....0

Oh dear lol. Not much love for this post mate. Perhaps it would be better to replace it with something along the lines of "I just got back from a world tour and wanted to share some amazing photos to help inspire those that want to do the same..."

Those ^^^ guys. eh!
Seriously, I reckon you ought to just get out and ride like advised...you'll soon get back into the swing of things. Sounds like you had a good time over the last six months and you're lucky to have ridden in such locations.
I travel to such places because of my work, and I'd love to get the chance to mtb while there, but all I ever experience is meetings, hotels and airports...no chance of any biking.
Just be content with the fact that you've experienced riding where most of us will never get the chance, and now continue to enjoy your local terrain. There's no place like home, eh!0 -
Try a different kind of riding. Try your hand at DH, or back country riding. I dunno, vary it a bit.
And, join in the Endomondo challenge in the Crudcatcher. Kind of helps get those extra 10 miles or so in when you're trying to beat someone!0 -

Try night riding (with lights of course).
It's a lot of fun, and has also made me a faster rider during the day. Maybe faster because of a confidence thing, perhaps? Or maybe because I didn't stop riding through the winter like I used to.0 -
Join an all girl (apart from you) cycling group !!! That should do the trick. What tree ? ...........

Go for a ride with someone better than you, somewhere where you can go fast enough or hard enough to scare yourself, then try to keep up.
Adrenaline and competition are great motivators.0
