11t sprocket is unusable on my rear cassette

Parts:
SRAM PG970 (9 speed) rear cassette
SRAM x7 shifters
SRAM x7 rear mech (9 speed, new version)

I have got perfect shifting from the easiest (largest sprocket) up to gear number 8. I can get the chain to shift to the hardest gear (11t, smallest sprocket) but no matter what I do the chain skips unbearably when I ride the bike (it does not skip when I am not on it).

I have tried adjust b-tension, I have played around with the high limit screw and I have adjust the barrel adjuster on the shifter... I can not get it to work! Any suggestions?

Cheers!

It is probably worn if skipping. Or do you mean it is not dropping fully onto the ring? Try cleaning and lubing the cables.

Also you say 'play around' with the screws - do you actually know what you are doing?!

what cassette lock ring are you using? is it 11T compatible?

what chain are you using? is the connector the correct way round?

When I say 'play around' I do know what I'm doing ;)

The lock ring is the one that came with the cassette so it should be 11t compatible. How would I know if it wasn't?

The chain is on the sprocket fine but it just seems to skip up and down now and then. It never comes off I just get a horrible jumping sensation through the pedals. Meaning that the power transfer is no way near what it should be - i.e. smooth pedalling!

The chain is an SRAM 9 speed chain and there shouldn't be a problem - it is sized correctly for my drivetrain.

How would I know if the sprocket is worn too much? As in, what should I look for?

I'd try a new 11t sprocket if you can and compare. Sometimes skipping is the only way of seeing! Though often you can see the wear on the teeth. Any pics?

Will try and get a picture but have camera problems :/ I could look at a new cassette and compare possibly!

Also, I am testing on middle chainring thankyouverymuch :D
