I am currently waiting for my new road bike (sabbath silk road pro) and any good advice on which low/mid profile aluminium rimed wheels would be greatly received as my head is baffled with the choice in front of me

The question is what do you want them for?

if zipp 101 come in at £1k then i'd go for them. Got the Sram s30 race that are based on them...very impressed.0

2 pairs of American Classic AC420s!Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

£1000 for alu clinchers? Seriously?!! Get some clinchers and 50mm tubs for that from Soul.Racing for Fluid Fin Race Team in 2012 - www.fluidfin.co.uk0

I agree - for £1k you could buy a pair of AC420s for training / general use and a pair of Planet-X 50mm carbon hoops for races and 'special' days.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Handbuilts.
Rims: Stan's Alpha 340
Hubs: Tune Mig 70 + Mag 180
Spokes: Sapim CX Ray
Should be less than £900 built.
Depending on number of spokes will come in between 1200 and 1300 grams.
And you can go tubeless if you like!European Cycling Trips: http://bikeplustours.com0 -
Either the Zipp 101s or 2 pairs of handbuilts.0

Mavic R-Sys are lovely wheels - lacking only in the aero department.
Around the £1k mark, if you are looking for something more aero but not the full on 50mm depth rims, Dura ace have released a 35mm version of their 7900 wheelset. Available from Merlin for under the £1k mark.

I'm liking the look of the exalith rimmed Mavics (Ksyrium SLR and R-Sys SLR)
