Will a XT 6 bolt rotor work with an Avid bb7?

Does anyone know if this will work - Shimano XT RT75 6-Bolt 180mm disc rotor with an Avid bb7? Assuming I have the correct adaptor for a 180mm rotor.
I’m looking at using a 180mm rotor instead of the usual 185 due to the (trials) fork having a +20mm disc mount.
