New Brake pads

I have Avid Elixir 5, hydraulic disc brakes I have been trying to fit new superstar kevlar brake pads but the back ones will not fit and catch the rotor.
Any tips on how to get the pistons back

with something clean.

if they are only just rubbing let them bed in.

Put the old pads back in then use a large flat blade scrozzie/tyre lever etc to push the pistons back.

Avid bleed kits come with blocks to reset the pistons.
