Hi,

I'm looking at getting back into cycling and thinking of getting a 2011 model Montare in the Gary Fisher collection from Trek.

http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/ga ... e/#reviews

I test rode a Bianchi Camaleonte 3 2011 Hybrid today at Evans - nice and light compared to my mountain bike i had ages ago! But the centre of gravity was quite high, i think the frame was too big for my anyway.. I didnt really feel stable with cars on narrow streets.

Any case, basically the Bianchi confirmed that i didnt want a hybrid that leaned towards the road bike too much i.e thinner, slicker tires, something that couldnt handle some more rough ground. I prefer a hybrid that would be a little more vasatile and the Montare seem to tick the box for me in terms of wheels being thicker, hydrolic disk brakes which i am told are very reliable, ability to lockout the front suspension for cycling on flatter surfaces and being an all round bike for on road and a little off road. In terms of my usage i basically want to enter one of those charity rides, 30 mile or 60 mile (maybe) and potentially ride to work (6.5 miles one way) and want an all rounder - i know it wont be best of both but thats ok.

Has anyone got one of these? Seems to be difficult to find stores that have one in store for me to look at. Not ordered one in store yet as i havent yet narrowed the chioces down yet.

Can anyone help with the following:

- Any reviews/comments from someone who owns one?
- How well does the lock out suspension work generally? are they as rigid once locked out as a non suspension fork and as good on the road?
- Does anyone know the weight as i cant find any info on that on the net?

This is my favourite from from my other options which are Canondale Bad Boy of some variant - which has fantastic reviews on the net, Trek 7.5 and 7500 and Bianchi Camaleonte. Its very difficult to dicide on one as there are so many options out there which is probably a good thing. My price range is around 500-800 pound.

At the point where I'm set on the Montare unless I can find any negatives that will make me consider the other options.... nearly at the end of this crazy research :)

Any info much appreciated.

Regards,

N
