Rattling cassette on Powertap freehub?
I have a new PowerTap wheel with the 15mm pull-off freehubs. I have 1 Campag and 1 Shimano freehub but the Ultegra 10spd cassette rattles on the Shimano freehub?
The freehub and cassette have only done about 700 miles, it's torqued and threaded correctly, and I've dismantled, cleaned and reassembled several times with no improvement. There is probably 0.5-1mm of play on the middle section of cogs and slightly less on the smaller cogs. It seems like the splines on the hub have work slightly in a couple of places already and might be the cause of the play? The same cassette was briefly on a different wheel with zero issues last week. The result is a really annoying rattle, especially on the poor road surfaces around here. The Campag cassette is solid as a rock and rattle free after twice as many miles.
Any suggestions?

Did you remember to move over the small spacing washer and place it on the PT freehub before installing the cassette? If not, there'll be a ~1mm gap and the cassette will rattle!'This week I 'ave been mostly been climbing like Basso - Shirley Basso.'0 -
Where would the washer be? The cassette didn't rattle onthe Easton wheel and was briefly on another Shimano wheel originally? I didn't get a washer with the PT freehub though?Your Past is Not Your Potential...0

Washer/spacer may still be on the Easton - sometimes they adhere to the freehub with any grease or grit and get left behind when you take a cassette off. They don't come with the PT - or any other hub - they are part of the cassette package. See Part 13 on this'This week I 'ave been mostly been climbing like Basso - Shirley Basso.'0 -
brilliant - many thanks
I'll have to go scour the other wheels and have a look!
EDIT: spacer found on the original wheel, exactly as suggested....all makes perfect sense now Doh!Your Past is Not Your Potential...0
