Hey,

After a rock flew up and punched my rear mech into my wheel at ladybower (not fun!!!) need the wheel rebuilt and a mech fitted......

Anyone have any recommendations in or around Sheffield? Edinborough bike co is 30 secs from my house so would be easy but dunno if they're any good? Eighteen bikes or the bike tree are other options but bit further out!

Thanks in advance

if they can't re-build a wheel and fit a mech they shouldn't be calling themselves a bike shop!

JE James Cycles aren't bad, and they had a decent mechanic in Decathlon a while back...not sure if he's still there though.

I've had nothing but poor service from JE James in both Rotherham and Sheffield.I tried to buy some new pawls for my rear hub from Edinburgh Bike collective and they couldn't find out what hub it was despite being a Specialized dealer(something 5 mins on the internet told me) So I wouldn't use them either.
Give Bike tree a shout can't be any worse! Or Langsett Cycles?

Cheers, I refuse to use Je James, I've never had such crap service anywhere, bike shop or not! I spent over a grand and a half on a bike there and the salesman moaned and complained for about five minutes when I asked him to set the shock up as he had to find a pump.......

Same here.I spent £2K in the Rotherham shop and the after sales was terrible so my next £2K was spent in Sheffield and although they undertook the warranty work they actually re-fitted my front fork incorrectly. When I pointed this out I was told the mechanic had come in to do it on his day off so I should just be happy to get the fork back! Then they kept my wheel for 5 weeks to re-build my rear hub which then failed on the first ride of a weeks trip to the Lakes :x
Will not use them on principal.

Bike Tree sorted out my brakes fine and they appear to love bikes and know what they are talking about
I'm going to blow the bank on a new build ( within reason ) NOW DONE!!

I must've been lucky with James Cycles - not really had an issue with them, but I haven't used them or anyone else for a long time because I try to do everything myself nowadays.

The last time I took anything into a workshop was at Decathlon, which was ages ago, and I got good service there. I'll bear Bike Tree in mind for future though.

JE James are only any good if you know exactly what you want if you're buying bits. The mechanic in the Rotherham branch is spot on too (older bloke with long hair). Apart from that I don't take my bike in for anything as they lie about length of time and most of them know sweet Fa about the ins and outs of bikes. Suppose if you pay peanuts you get monkeys though
