Cateye/Mavic magnets

Okay, hope this isn't in the wrong place?
I recently bought a new Ribble Sportive with Ksyrium Elite wheels and initially bought a Cateye Micro Wireless to go with it. I want pretty basic functions so so far so good.
Now, however, I am thinking along the lines of a GPS system. Why? I'll be honest...because despite trying a smaller rare earth magnet on my other Cateye (a strada) and finding that it didn't work: secondly having had issues with bladed spokes and the standard circular magnet before, and thirdly since buying a specific Mavic magnet for the job (for bladed spokes) that also looks too big so the issue is generally one of calibration.
So, here goes, is there any point in spending money on bladed aero spokes and then whacking a magnet on them to induce drag? What are people's thoughts on this or am I fussing about nothing? Any alternatives? I know I can only really answer whether spending the extra is worth it but any thoughst people?
NOte: I can't use a rear wheel set-up due the distance between the unit and the sensor.

Had to read this a couple of times. Are you really concerned over the drag caused by a spoke magnet ? Surely it's a tiny overhead.
The standard round magnet you got with the cateye should work fine with bladed spokes. There is a groove on one side for round spokes and the opposite side is flat for flat spokes.
If you are looking for tiny magnets then I've just (accidentally) bought some neodymium magnets that are only 5mm in diameter off flea bay, £3.19 for 50, which could be glued on.0 -
won't be any appreciable effect on drag
but on lightweight wheels some of the magnets are heavy enough to be noticeable if placed near the rim and/or not opposite the valve stem, plus they look ugly
as twostage says, you can get small magnets on ebay and glue on, that's what i do
5x5x2mm neodymium magnet, use the *gel* superglue to mount it, glue it on the spoke that is closest to opposite the valve stem, as close to the axis as the mounting of the sensor sensibly allows
this seller does a stack of dfferent sizes...

...i use one of the other sizes for the cadence sensormy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
Thanks chaps, thought I might be going a bit over the top.
For some reason the rare earth magnet I tried with the Cateye Strada, works instead with the micro wireless (?) It's a tiny little thing from Maplins about 3mm across. GPS signal around here is none too clever either as I have come to find out....so all sorted but thanks anyway.0
