both my xc bikes have got problems with the freehubs.
The Shimano M475 hub has got some play in the free hub & the Formula hub has got noisy bearings in the freehub. Can these be serviced or repaired or is it new wheel time?

yes they can."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Most people get a new hub complete (so new axle, cones bearings etc) and do a hub rebuild when they swap the freehub, often cheaper than getting a freehub and a few other bits anyway....
