I'm a big fan of the fizik bar tape with gel pads, its looks great and on rough roads the gel pads come in handy

Fizik Microtex - very durable. Fit gel pads if you want more comfort.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Lizard skins with gel pads underneath.

    good grip even when wet.

saying that though, the blue outer layer on mine has started to peel after only a year.

Fizik microtex here too. Singlewrapped on the tops, and double wrapped on the drops. Really like it.

Microtex is great stuff, however it can feel quite thin personally. Better to get the microtex tape with gel inserts, or Lizard Skins is very good and VERY grippy.

Fizik microtex with gel pads under it or the Specialised Phat tape are both fine

charge u-bend is great tape, synthetic leather, very tough yet has a good feel and handles all weathers. you can pull it very tight without it snapping. i coupled it with cinelli gel pads.

  • I'm using some white Cinelli Gel Cork tape right now and find it to be nicely cushioned and have not had any discoloration issues, and I don't need any extra pads under the tape.

I'm not exactly picky though, and have used everything from Cinelli to Fizik microtex to Specialized classic and Roubaix tape.

That said, the Cinelli gel cork tape seems to dampen road buzz quite a bit and has been comfortable for long rides.

I'm a bit disappointed with my first Microtex, in 3 weeks I have two small chunks missing from end of the bars, and a piece torn up from slightly rubbing against the bike carrier :(
