rim ding repairable?

Has anyone repaired this kind of ding before?

I'm guessing lots of heat and pliers to get it straight again. It would be a second hand purchase but only if I could hammer it straight again.

You can bend them back, but risk fracturing it. It looks pretty bad, I wouldn't buy it.
