So got in this afternoon from work to find two huge boxes waiting for me. i figured the wheels would be in one and the bike in the other. cracked open the first box. it was a specialised allez 16 in silver. I was gutted, thought the wrong bike got delivered. demoralised i open the second box to find my trek 1.5.
Now im in super-shock two bikes, did i order two! nope lol. had a look at the invoice and a poor chappy named Ian was due his allez today. The dude paid for next day delivery so he must be a little gutted. Weirdly though both boxes are address to myself so it seems a label misprint.
By the time i got in the shop was closed so I couldn't inform them of the error but will do so tomorrow first thing. anyway back to my bike because thats what important lol.
boy-o-boy is she a beauty. looks the biz, costs the biz, rides so dam well and shes super quick too. took her for a spin around the block and she ate up the ground.. Got a speedometer arriving in store for me (a catseye micro) tomorrow so im going to take her out for a top speed showdown ahaha. hopefully she wont kill me as i pretty much assembled her myself.
oh the pedals that came with her are disgusting to use. some weird caged thing. waiting on my shimano 520s to arrive now as well as a few other bits and bobs.
do you guys its worth taking into a store to have her fully checkout? also the handlebars feel a little on the low side. well the drop bars do at least. the tops feel like they are the right height. do i need to buy spacers to raise the handbar heigher up?

What route are you planning / time will you be travelling?
I live up your way so will look out for you.0 -
hey mate, well to get to work i think im going to take the high road all the way down to finsbury park. maybe cut across the park or go round, then through holloway, caledonian to hoburn then covent garden. although never cycled the route so no doubt ill get lost lol.
going to hopefully attempt the journey next week. being a newbie road rider ive got to build the confidence up a little. also trying to get the bike setup properly and my legs fully stretched out. where do you cycle mate?0 -
You're going a bit more West than me. I skirt down the East side of Green Lanes through Stoke Newington and through Newington Green then down Southgate Road heading for Clerkenwell. it's a lot quieter than the main drag.
You could try and miss the High Road and Green Lanes using Wightman Road go through the park down towards Holloway. You could also try going down Blackstock Road and through Highbury / islington. I've rarelly used either way though so don't know what the traffic like.
Good week to start though next week. It's still the school holidays so traffic is lighter than usual.0 -
yeh i know wightman road bit of a mare because its a fairly steep uphill ride. might attempt it though. road up to finsbury park today. junctions arent too bad along the main road however theres way too many traffic lights. ive got to figure out my timing between them to hopefully make it passed them all without getting caught.0
