folding bike

We are looking for advice to which folding bike we could get
for our camping trip this summer.
We are around 60 years old and mostly cycle on flat areas. We would like a folding bike with sturmey hub gears that can fit in the back of our car, not too expensive (2-300 pounds) as they have to be left in the tent at times.
We have two cheap folding bikes with external gears and they were not fit for purpose,
so we are looking for a bike not too flash - so it won'tl get stolen - but still a fair bike.
Would Raleigh Parkway Light or Viking Voss do?

perhaps not the best forum to post this sort of question on, but, in short, yeah - a Raleigh Parkway will do the trick.
To be honest i wouldnt get too hung up on getting sturmey gears - sure they have less maintanence and keep things tidy, but they weigh more than a standard transmission, which isnt a good thing on a folding bike.
Just get out to the local bike shops and try a few - there's no fix and fast rule which would suit everyone......0 -
Thank you for a very quick answer, and sorry if this was the wrong place to post the question.
The reason for the hub gear is a total lack of ability to maintain an external gear.
I hit a rock with the folding bike I have at present and the chain have fallen off on a regular basis ever since.
We will take your advice and try some different bikes.

My brother in law works for a camping store who are selling these off cheap on ebay

I think the shimano nexus is the hub gear you're after. He's only just started using ebay as a clearance tool for the business hence only 1 feedback but I can get you the shops number if you're interested0
