  • I've done it, twice. 2009 and 2010. 23 hours on the first try, 19 on the second. Had about 3000 km of training from jan 1st until the event both years. A mix of long steady rides and shorter harder ones.

morgan, did you do it alone or with a team?

I've done a similar ride alone when I was 20, and I swore I'd never do that again. As age presses on, however, I should think it would be quite enjoyable. Still, it would be even more enjoyable, if I could team up with similar paced.

tnx for your insight. What were the longer ones like ie 200-300km/ day?
  • Trondheim - Oslo is in reality a 540 km team time trial. I would say that 40-50% of the participants does it as a part of an organised group with their own support veicles etc. That said, its definietly possible to do it on your own as there will always be smaller or larger "independent" groups forming along the way. To do 540km totaly solo is not something i would recomend. I've done it both on my own and as a team, and this is reflected in my finishing time. :D. I n my view the phsycological part of this race is amolst as important as your physical form. 20 hours + on a bike is a looooong time, and unless you have tried it, its almost impossible to know how you will cope.

The first time I did it my longest ride prior was probably not more than 130-140 km. Last year I had a 220 km sportive in may.

Happy to share more info if it is of interest. I'm a Norwegian currently living in London, so I'm not doing it this year. Will hopefully be in Trondheim for the 2012 edition.....
