I sit at my desk most days with a pair of decent cans over my lobes and smack on some tunes, some of which would never be appropriate in the work place if it wasnt for the ear-a-maphones.

But the question is what do you listen to when doing different tasks?

When i am report writing i have to have something that can distract me from everything thats going on the office so i can just type and get in to a rythym, and maybe hit that touch typing pinacle where i actually write jibberish for a few sentences!

so Report Writing = Pendulum, Sub Focus, El Da Sensei, J-Live, Artifacts, Led Zeppelin, Massive Attack, Prodigy, Aphex Twin

and that is to name just a few

When i hit the gym is a different sotry i need a good beat or something angry when i push the wieghts

the weight room usually has me listening to Deftones, Rage Against the Machine, Kill Switch Engage, Thursday, Team Sleep, Smashing Pumpkins.

now the idea of this thread is to find out what peeps are in to and maybe find out about some new stuff as well......

so what flicks your switch when your doing the dishes?
floats your boat when you concentrating at work?
pushes your plates when your in the gym?

My music taste is too diverse to start on!

Mainly hard core dance tbh though. I find it motivates me whatever I'm doing.

Trance! Not the clubland shite the druggys and pond life listen to. I mean the stuff that takes months to produce using various synthesizers, Hardware and computer software.

I love Orchestral Trance and stuff with uplifting breakdowns all the way through to dirty baselines and pounding beats. If it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, then its good music to me.

Also like Chill out stuff, and a bit of Rock and Metal. Defo do not like Chav music, any boyband crap or the dreadful music R&B.

Few examples of what i like.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdsf40aF ... re=related Newton - 4 Seasons. Lovely Synths and Strings from 2.20 onwards.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEzfDYJ6 ... 2684F60723 Afternova - Sunset in Dubai

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ph_0AB-rcI Sunlounger - Another Day on the Terrace

Its really music for the mind, if you block every worry or stress out and just listen and imagine wherever you want to be then Trance will take you there

I'm ah156 on Last FM. Don't use any others
  • During Work:

    Foo Fighters
    QOTSA
    Led Zep
    AC/DC
    Green Day
    Daft Punk

I do have some happy hardcore type stuff too which is dreadful, but helps to keep pace when out for a spin.

Ey I'm on last fm, my musical taste varies an awful lot, dependant on mood and what I'm doing, like now at work I need some motivation to get something constructive done, so I've ac/dc and the new foo fighters album on abit of a loop, with some avenged sevenfold and a few bullet for my valentine tracks mixed in, it's working quite well

For chill out time at home it's usually some softer rock or pop punk, red hot chili's, paramore, blink 182, cage the elephant, madina lake, bring the horizon, lost prophets and some 30 seconds to mars.

Not really into any of that r'n'b crap thats about these days, although I must admit having seen B.O.B support paramore last year, I thought he was really good and tinie tempah isn't bad either tbh, but that's about it

    Whats your username?
  • I listen to mostly just dubstep and drum n bass, but do listen to a bunch of other stuff.

If wiriting a report for university, I normally put on some of the Jazz mixes, likes of Monty Alexander and such. Lovely chill music and gets me writing really well.

No music at work for me either. For me it's very much a situation thing, if I'm out I like psytrance or drum and bass but it's definately not for home listening. When I'm in the car though I like speech radio mainly radio 4. I especially like the archers and desert island discs, also the frank skinner show on absolute

Similar to some, no music at work as I handle the sales side of things while watching the "creatives" plugged into their own worlds as the lucky bastido's dont have phones that ring

For me anything from Metallica to Morcheba, Disturbed to Cafe Del-Mar...Like the selections from bwfc4eva868 and Kaiser also....Perfect early morning mtb spring/summer morning ride music whilst watching the sun come up on the horizon.... Mmmmm 8) 8)

I listen to anything that I feel like or happen to like the sound of at the time

The artists that seem to be in the playlist mostly on teh iPod at the moment are The Jam, The Eagles, The Beatles, The Specials, Children of Bodom  and The Cat Empire. I also seem to be listening to a fair bit of Bon Jovi, Biffy, Pink Floyd, Nickleback and BFMV too.
