I've just taken delivery of a Specialized Allez Triple 2010 with slick tyres. However, for most of my time I'm going to be concerned with grip and puncture-resistant tyres on some fairly dodgy roads round by me.

Anyone going any recommedations on the best tyres/tubes to choose to limit my punctures as much as possible.

    Conti GP4seasons or Vittoria Rubino's
  • Thanks danowat. Both look good to me and will probably go for the Conti...

I've got Vittoria Rubino's on my Allez.

    No probs

  • I've got Spec Gatorskins on my allez - only had 1 puncture in 3 years (although the tires were replaced in that time) and that was when a stone slashed the sidewall.

Slightly heavier than normal but bombproof as far as I'm concerned

I'm a newbie and have been looking at tyres/tubes a lot over the past week. I bought some (slightly) used mavic aksium wheels. After reading masses about tyres I've ended up buying Schwalbe Ultremo's. I'm guessing there isn't as much to choose from tube-wise. Is there any wisdom on tubes?
