It keeps getting little play on the drive side. The Cranks in Questions are Raceface Diabolus xtype bb ones etc like these; click on pic to enlarge it;

Now im good with thesl bikes etc and i know its not the BB. So i have come to the conclusion thats its the splines that are worn. I tighten the bolt on up but it some times starts to have slight play in the arm like i said with a slight knocking noise and when i have tightend the bolt up it some times helps but then restarts the little play.
Today i had the crank arm off again and gave it all clean etc and wipe down, so i then fastened the crank arm back up, then just took bolt back out to see how the arm sits on the splines, now i know it will be loose with out the bolt in but is the spline suppose to be tight up to the crank arm or ? as the seems to be slight side to side play with the crank arm on the spline i dont mee loads and masive play just ever so slight.
So its time for new cranks right :/ lol.[/url]

    if it is only one side then the bearing is on the way out.

    Nah not the BB bearing i checked them, ive been chatting to mate whos a bike mechaninc on FB and he suggested it might be no correct spacing of the bb spacers

    You'd then have 2.5mm of play and would have other problems.

    Sounds like the bearings, just because they feel smooth by hand doesn't mean they're actually still alright.

    if that was so then you would have movement at both cranks. Not one as you say.

    not conceivable the cranks are not external bearing... but the OP has got confused and they are actually the old type... that would explain the wobble on one side and not the other...

    yes... but they may not be identical... I seem to remember that Race Face made a Howitzer version of the Diabolous....
