Hi,
Well i think iv worn out my shifter internally (i will dismantle later just to be sure)
my derailleur is working fine the cable runs smooth when there isnt pressure the shifter works but as soon as cable tension is applied it will only work in gears 4 or 5-9 i think this is because the tension is again lower so the shifter is fine but as soon as i go higher its very very stiff to the point where i think im gunna snap the lever and it still wont go into 1 or 2.
Anyways i think il get a new shifter once iv checked and im wondering will the later models of XT work with my derailleur its which ever model was being produced in 2004.
Thanks

yes they will.
but check your cables for damage first.
and keep the number of gears the same."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

i have no idea what i did, bu ti took the cable out fiddled with the mech (cable fine) put it all back together and it works again :S i think it may be a lack of grease/oil on the cable i was a bit keen on the cleaning i think with the new bike :P
touch wood its fixed but il take it out for a ride tomo to be sure0
