I've found how to change it ip the options/tools menu, but when I do, nothing happens! Any ideas? The standard font is bloody awful.

I thought I'd give it a try as IE seems to be getting slower and slower: tried the help pages, but no joy yet,
So far the experience is underwhelming! But will persevere lol.0 -
browsers are much of a muchness imo... I only use safari because thats what came on my mac lol.0
-
-
I tried that, liked it even less.0
-
it's you then lol0

Lol, I guess it is getting used to it, maybe I will try Chrome again and see how I get on.
I was struggling to get an effective ad blocker for IE, while Chrome just seemed really slow. But that was a while a go.0 -
might as well give opera a spin while you're at it0
-
I would give Chrome another go, they do seem to update it quite regularly, so might be a lot better now then when you last used it. However, it has always been really quick on my computer.0

ie9 here, and it's really quite nice. Has a built in flash blocker. Kinda.0
-
IE9, ah, I am on 8 lol, will look for an update.0
-
Which I can't do because I am on XP lol.0
-
I have never really used IE, but all I have heard is good things about IE9. Might have to give it a try some time0
-
Xp won't be helping either, it's an 11 year old outdated os!0
-
I'd be running windows 95 if I could haha0
-
Well, you could, nothing stopping you!0

This is the solution. Inbuilt mail and rss, generally a lovely lovely browser to use.0 -
Opera's nice, apart from when it dramatically fails to show a website properly.0

have you gone to advanced settings and unchecked the option that allows websites to force a font on you.
Most web design software has by default a few fonts that are universal ( its a legacy thing from ages ago) these include helvetica, times, courier etc.
Often times so the web page can be read by most audiences those default fonts are forced onto the page and so custom fonts are over ridden. Unchecking the box in advanced tells the browser to check your font folder first for the custom fonts you've chosen. The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns
momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself.0 -
I don't seem to have that option in my advanced settings. I am sure I am fully updated too.0
-
sure you do, it's the link monkey face gave you. tools >> options >> content tab >> advanced button >> "allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above" is ticked by default.0

What he said ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Took me a while to get used to FF.
I recently tried Chrome and hated it.0 -
why are you wanting to change the font?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
Because standard FF font looks bloody awful for BR! AT least in my computer.
But I will try again to to change it. Seems I have missed some setting/button/option.0 -
tools> options> Content tab and select what font you want.
then Advanced and turn off the "let the pages select......""Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

you're on XP with an old graphics card and you've been used to IE. For XP Right click on the desktop and select Properties. Click the Appearance tab. Click Effects button. Make it look like:
you can also use the ClearType Tuner PowerToy. So piss about some.
this is XP and what BR in Firefux 4 (default settings), with above, looks like with half decent graphics card..
