  • We started with a cheap (£30) wooden balance bike, the downside was that it didn't have any brakes but it's lightness made it really easy to ride. My son was never off the thing for over a year and it meant that he could easily keep up with us when out walking.

    He's now moved onto an Islabike and I wouldn't buy anything else.
