These bikes seem very good value for money, with better compnents for the price than other brands I have seen. I Just have a couple of questions.

1) I have heard that they have poor clearance to fit mudguards and panniers, is this true? On their website it says they come with guards as standard.

2) In my price range I can get the Tiagra, the Apex or the Veloce? Which of these is best? If I don't upgrade the wheels I could get the nest gears up, is this worth it?

Am new to road bikes so sorry for the noobish questions.

I have one - it comes with guards. Spend the extra and get full 2011 105 - you really don't need anything else.

If you have full guards you can only fit 23mm tyres - may not be an issue but it was for me. Ended up fitting Crud's instead.

All of those groupsets are good, pick whichever you find most comfortable. I would go for a 10 speed if possible though. Better wheels will make a big difference so I would spend the money there.

Sorry for being a noob but what are cruds? :?

As for the gears I don't know which are more comfortable as this is my first road bike, the only ones in my price range i've been able to try out in the shops all have tiagra or lower - this is one of the reasons I like the look of this ribble bike. If in doubt go for shimano?

Cruds are Crud roadracer mudguards, which are very good on bikes with tight clearances, look good too. Not full length mudguards if you follow.
