Noticed that someone on the forum posted that they use Strava (http://ww.strava.com) for their club rides etc.

Just signed up and have been looking around the site.. doesn't seem that many UK people use this... anyone else here use it and do you find it useful?

It seems more useful when you have a few people signed up to share data (and compare climbs etc) as a bit of fun to some of those solo rides, hence the post.

If you don't use Strava, do you use anything that is similar?

Thanks
Simon

Yes it becomes useful once people use it - it's quite a chicken and egg situation, our club now has a couple of dozen regular users so it's good to see where the other club runs are going - who needs encouraging to go out with faster groups, where hills or good roads which are slightly outside your area might be found etc. etc.

The competition part is fun - but drafting really makes it tough to read too much into.

    Thanks for the reply!

It appears that not that many people use Strava on BR - which is a real shame. Seems like a great online app as well as a bit of fun seeing people ride your favourite climbs etc (is there another app that people are using instead?)

The package is free if you only upload 5 rides/month... which is probably OK for that longer weekend ride.

Rode one of my routes again this morning, and really liking how you can create 'segments' of the ride and compare your time/speed etc from previous rides.

Anyone around Bristol/Bath fancy signing up and giving it a trial?

I think it's great, but very addictive. Dunno how I'll feel at the end of the 3 months freebie though....
