Where to buy them from?

I'm looking to build a light wheelset and looking for some Al rims to build up with some 20/24 hubs. Have had a look at various sites and it looks as though the IRD Cadence would be a good buy - but can't find anywhere that sells them.

Clincher wheels please.

I have found the following:

DT Swiss 1.2: http://www.swinnertoncycles.co.uk/Produ ... =RRR1220BK and http://www.swinnertoncycles.co.uk/Produ ... =RRR1224BK

or the DT Swiss 585: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=48166

These are both 585gr though

I see the Velocity Aerohead is a good rim, but can't find a stockist, same with Kinlin rims.

Any suggestions welcomed. Thank you!

Sounds like you have a light set of 20/24 hole hubs and are looking for rims only...
The cadence is only 24 hole (and up), you would need to go for the heavier cadence aero if you need a 20 hole.

When you drop below 24 spokes, rim selection and quality of build become increasingly important and suggest you look at a slightly deeper section rim if durability is important. I would suggest Halo Mercury rims which are IRCs - but they don't come in a 20h - only 16 or 24. Try Brick Lane bikes for Velocity rims (don't expect them to be helpful though!)
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Thanks 58585 - that is much more helpful than Ameferanga :P Besides - the link to Wheelroom only gives prices for wheels?

Monty Dog - noted, but I do have a light pair of 20/24h hubs that I want to build up. I would only use good spokes, happy with a deeper section rim (note the IRD Cadence Aero point raised by 58585) and will have my build supervised by someone who knows what they're doing.

DCR Wheels have the Kinlin: http://www.dcrwheels.co.uk/products/rims/kinlin-xr300/

Just trying to find the most appropriate rims for the job (that are available). Happy to take any other suggestions too!

    Thanks all

    a) you better not be heavy
    b) you better not want a stiff wheel
    c) you better not want a durable wheel
    d) you better ride it on a track...indoors
Back in the day people tried crazy stuff with GEL280 or GL330 rims which have no structure with very bad results.

As Monty says, don't do this with a Reflex rim, but something with it's own inherent structure like this: http://hplusson.com/index.php?/sl42/ They are heavy and good luck getting one any time soon, so might defeat your

Kinlin is the actual name of the rim but these are re-branded all over the place, best to spot what it looks like then you'll recognize it when you see it branded on a wheelset someone decaled up on their own.

Why not just get some Ardennes and be done with it?

Fransjaques - I already have the hubs so I'm just looking for the rims, but in answer to your queries:
    a) I'm 68kg
    b) I'm not a power merchant, but I don't want "wobble"
    c) Because less spokes is going to mean less durability?
    d) How come?

Mavic Aksiums are 20/20 (I think) and I have ridden these the length of the country and not had any problems.

Planet X model B's are often described as bomb proof too - and they are 20/24.

Hed Ardennes are £600 odd (I can only find them here: http://www.competitivecyclist.com/produ ... 622.0.html), don't deal with the fact that I already have hubs.

Thanks for the SL42 tip - but they don't do 20h it seems and are 100g heavier than the DT Swiss.

Look under rims instead of wheels and you'll see they sell rims. £40 for the cadence and £60 for the Aero.

I take it all back. I am incompetent at getting around their website (although in my defence it isn't that friendly). Thank you - so I can get the aero from there too....

Don't know what your budget is, but I just built up some Kinlin rims that I bought from Fairwheel in the states. Service was excellent and arrived in 5 days, did have to pay nearly £50 duty a week later though. Rear wheel XR380, front XR300.
