gear changing harder after crash

Hi,
well as he title states i crashed at penmachno trail the other day, didnt really think about it at the time was thinking more about the cuts but after i got back the next ride getting into 1,2,3,4 is very stiff moving around 5-9 is fine and easy. the derrailleur hanger was bent slightly but iv straightened it.
Any suggestions or thoughts?
im not sure but the derrailleur may still be twisted slightly would this have any effect ? and if so why only 1-4 ?

thanks unixnerd, il have a nose and see.
its just so odd when i take the cable of the derailleur the shifter goes through all gears perfectly and smoothly not stiff. and the derailleur also moves smoothly and easily.
but when you add the two they dont like each other in 1-40 -
