Bought in 2010 as a do everything bike it has served its purpose for that time and now I've moved house (closer to work) I'm now able to commute on my newly built Kona so the Cube will be kept as my nice get out and ride bike.

This was used during this winter in all weather for my commute to a collegues house for our car share (8mile round trip) and has been a little neglected because I've not had the time to keep the best care of it. A bit of TLC is needed in the next few weeks to bring it back to its former glory.

I absolutely love this bike and can’t wait for the easter holidays to be over so I can go out on my days off instead of having the kids at home 

    Very stealthy 8)

The Hayes Stroker Trails were excelent brakes but I didn't like the feel of them so took the plunge and bought these XT's & they are awesome despite dropping from a 203/180 setup to 180/160 these XT's are much more powerful and offer better control over the power delivered

  • I've now got round to changing one of the parts I didn't like the look of, this upgrade was for cosmetic purposes only.

M770 XT Chainset 8) , I also fitted the new BB that came with it.

I didn't like the angles/colour scheme of the SLX so with some savings I've made the change.

The gearchanges in general are feeling more & more sluggish as the rides go on which I'm putting down to worn cables (18mnths old, 1000+ miles mainly offroad) so I shall be using that as an excuse to upgrade the shifters/front mech at some point in the near future.

  • The future has arrived

I've now fitted my new XT M770 Rapid Fire shifters/new cables

And while I was at it, it would be rude not to finish off upgrading the remaining SLX stuff so on went the XT M771 Front Mech

Charge Spoon saddle also fitted, black with red stiching to match the colour scheme 8)

All I need now is a new brake hose to solve the oil leak then I can start using it properly again. 1st impressions of a nearly complete XT drivetrain (SLX cassette) are very impressive, shifting is so much quicker and much more precise.

Good upgrades, I'd now ditch the super long stem (mine had a 120mm Syntace) and replace with a Thompson 70-90mm, made my Cube a lot better ride.
  • I'm happy with it (for now) and am going to hold off spending anymore money on it as I want the replace the fork on my Marin for an air fork with longer travel.

The ride suits my style mainly XC with a dash of Langsett & Wharncliffe thrown it :)

Sweet ride, I just got the same shifters and brakes and so far really impressed with them.
  • I couldn't wait, I've been itching to get out on it so went for a steady ride today through Wharncliffe Woods to settle the gears in

I'm loving this bike and can't wait for my next outing on it.
