Fitting disc brakes

Hi,
I am trying to work out what adapters etc I need to fit disc brakes to my bike that currently only has V's but I am now really confused because when I tried to fit an adapter from my dad's bike it wouldn't fit.
This is the rear drop out on my bike that will not accept the adapter...
... and this is the rear drop out on my dad's bike that the adapter came off.
So, does this mean that I cannot fit disc to my atall or does it just mean that a different type of adapter is needed?
Thanks in advance for any help, Peter.

talk to your local Trek dealer about the Trek. Not a current part take the picture with you as they may not be aware of it/forgotten about it."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

AFIK import VAT only comes into play for item over £18 in value.
you might just get away with it, depending on the exchange rate, or ask him if he can mark the item value $2 below the actual price.
vat would be £4 if you did get charged.0 -
oh thanks, £4 isn't that bad anyway, I thought't it would be more than that! thanks for your help.2009 Trek 3900 - MTB (Upgraded)
