Avid Juicy brakes question

I have a set of ultimates, second hand and fitted.
What I've noticed is that they flick out the other way and clicks, Ive been told that's to release the caliper to take the wheels off easier.
However the rear brake lever doesn't do this
:?:
Is the a way for me to get it so it working and all in order? The lever is also sat in furthest position, however it should only be in that position once flicked.out.
Hope people know.what I.am on about.
Help would be great.
Thanks

both should disengage. as covered in the downloadable manual.
other wise do they both work?
if yes dont worry."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

When you say disengage, do you mean they both should click outwards?
They both work however the rear is a bit spongy, so dont know if that affects the disengage part.
any ideas?0
