    Blood doping was banned back then though. So, while we can diminish their achievements, we can't discredit them.

  • On a similar note, there was a bloke I used to ride with occasionally who put Merckx into the barriers in the finale of an Olympic RR, denying him any shot of a medal. He never won one!
