Following a successful 12 months and a packed schedule for 2011, La Fuga is looking to recruit a European Tour Manager to help us deliver our range of European tours.
Title: European Tour Manager
Contract Type: Full Time – Permanent
Reporting To: Director of La Fuga Travel
Job Location: London office during off-season. Europe-based during tour season.
Salary: £20-25k (dependent upon experience)
Holidays: 20 days per year plus UK bank holidays.
Start Date: March/April 2011
The Role
The post-holder will be responsible for the research, planning, staffing, leading and executing of La Fuga Travel tours. In addition, the Tour Manager will play a key role in the costing, selling and business administration of tours.
Main Duties
The main duties of the post holder are:
Research and development of new tours.
Management of La Fuga travel European tours programme
Preparation of costings for new and existing tours.
Preparation of Tour Documentation such that an electronic database of Tour information is developed and managed.
Liaising with hotel and restaurant management.
Identifying and recommending potential staff to HR Director and responsibly for training staff/helpers for European tours, and providing contracts.
Day to day management of tour staff.
Inputting into the selling of tours such as talking to, meeting with new and existing customers, primarily in the UK and US markets.
Having an overview as to the status of all tours and providing regular updates to the tour leaders.
Leading and managing all tasks associated with the successful day-to-day running of a tour, with budget responsibility.
Responsible for ensuring the transfer of guests and staff from airports, hotels etc.
Responsible for ensuring customer and staff enquiries are dealt with in a timely and successful manner.
Performing bicycle assembly, maintenance, advice when necessary to guests.
Performing and responsibility for completion of various tour related administrative duties such as reservations, bills, parking, tolls, paperwork, logistics etc.
Regular contribution and management of La Fuga social networking such as blog updates.
Show awareness of legal and regulatory considerations relating to tours.
Knowledge / Qualifications
The post holder shall ideally have an undergraduate degree (2:1) in management or tourism and be knowledgeable in cycling, cycle sport and popular European cycling destinations. Alternatively, someone who has worked within cycling teams or events would be ideally suited.
Necessary Skills
Strong numeracy and literacy skills with good knowledge of Word and Excel
Strong inter-personal, communication and presentation skills with attention to detail
Strong language skills, French/Italian preferred
Able to show own initiative and work with minimal supervision
A passion for cycling, cycle sport, bike maintenance and travel
Dedication to delivering a quality service to our customers
Full Driving licence
Desirable Skills
Knowledge of design packages such as Illustrator / Photoshop
Web design skills including HTML
Knowledge of accounting packages such as Sage
