Hi all, new to the forum.

Just ordered a new bike today, it looked fairly decent but cant really find any reviews on it, just wondered if anyone had anything similar.

Was very tempted by a GT Zaskar Expert 2009, but went for this instead :-)

Got a mate who's got one, actually he's onto his 2nd now after the first snapped on him. It's a nice enough bike, he raves about it, mostly about the lugs and how he could see a bit of fluff in the carbon which he seemed to like. Don't recall how heavy it is, fairly light IIRC.
  • Thats not good then, do you think it's a bad frame design then?

He claims it was all down to fatigue, at the risk of him reading this it was probably him fucking up a landing or having his seatpost too high or something similar that caused it to snap but he'd never admit it. He only actually noticed it was cracked while he was cleaning it so chances are he was riding it a fair way with the crack and it held up.

Giant sent a replacement frame under warranty and he's happily riding it round just like he did the old one.

I wouldn't worry about it, Giant are one of, if not the biggest bike manufacturer out there, it's a good bike, they've done a good job of it.

    Hiya mate
    I bought a XTC2 last year .... i'm 5' 6" and got a small frame i thin k its to small for me.
shudda got a medium frame.. maybe giant frames are on the small side.
  • Ah thats not so bad then, you had me worried for a bit there! I had a friend at school going back 15 years or so, his frame snapped on his raleigh, I mean snapped in half, and as he went down the snapped piece of frame severed his lip!

I'm 5ft 10, hopefully I've made the right choice by going with a medium 18" frame
