I was after some new arm warmers and really wanted to see what some Merino were like when I found this site http://www.velobici.cc/index.asp . This stuff looks sooooo cool. Now that the sun is out I proberbly won't need my new purchase for a while but that's what impulse buys are all about :D

Has the model just got his toasty arm-warmers out from the Aga?

I'm sure the kit is great, but the website screams LIFESTYLE far too loudly for my liking.

For me though; cycling is a lifestyle.

It's not the usual road/race stuff that I would usually go for but just thought the who site looked a bit different and the guys looked cool. It's does look very arty but it's not the obvious choice for life style merino kit and I like that.

I have always wanted to cycle in a cardigan...

I know Rapha gets some stick on here (mostly valid) but this seems senseless to me.. What gap are they trying to fill with prices like that?

I've got a pair of the Sportivo. Bit of a narrow last, and all the usual real leather care malarkey, hardest thing getting new laces. Love them

Exactly. That's the market they're targeting.

Since The Ride Journal, LFGSS and the like, cycling seems to be getting very 'trendy' and the market is moving towards that. There's a real art in selling overpriced niche goods to the 'London trendy-set' who are clambering on the bandwagon in their skinny jeans and riding around with ridiculously narrow bars and no brakes, mostly without helmets, no road sense and a blatant disregard for traffic signals. The trouble is that non-cyclists lump us all together.

I'm looking forward to when the hipsters will lose interest when the next fad comes along and all the classic old bikes flood the market and are able to be ridden by proper cyclists again, assuming they haven't all been converted into fixies.

It could be worse Giantmike, no one has noticed the gap in the market for deely boppers for your helmet yet  I was into motorcycling a few years back when they started bringing in stupid stick on ears and pony tails for helmets, was not cool to ride a motorbike from that day on.

Hi Guys, always fine it strange, people talking about us and what we do. Love to read all views good and bad. We are very passionate cyclists. The bike on the front page is a NOS frame i managed to prize away from a fantastic guy in Hull, Ed, also sold me the 50th anniversary grouppo thats on it. Built summer 08 it has only been ridden by our modals on the photo shoots (Very carefully i may ad!). :D

Thought I'd chip in as a proud owner of two pairs of Velobici arm warmers.. The lighter weight grey and the warmer reinforced elbows.. I like a bit of merino..

They are well priced for 100% merino, I have wool ones from other manufacturers, but Velobici are my favourite by far in terms of performance, fit and function (love the thumb loop and reinforcing at the elbow). Best of all they are made in the UK.

+1 for the thumb loop, have to go out early this morning just to try them out (why did I buy arm warmers when I should be buying sun cream :? ) the difference between merino ones and normal ones is amazing, its difficult to discribe how they feel but you can really feel quality and they are not at all clammy. Can't wait for this hot stuff to go so I can justify the to the wife. £40 is a lot for arm wamers but after just one trip I can definatly think they are worth every penny, at least the wife gets a set of used Campag lycra ones now. :)

There are some cracking shots of it on their facebook pagge . http://www.facebook.com/velobici

    Worth a browse I reckon...

There are some very nice bikes on there. Bet they would cost a fortune if Colnago started making them again with their own brand chain rings and stuff.

At least the sun has gone away so I can use my arm warners again :D
