The A470 isn't too bad, at least there's decent stretches where you can see it's clear to overtake. Most of the roads north of, roughly, Aberystwyth, are shite though.0 -

there's tons, i drive that way regulary in a long wheelbase sprinter and trust me...you can overtake.....as long as you don't look off the side as you do it 0 -

Travelling North to South or back is best done at night in Wales. Managed to make it from Swansea to Caernarfon in around 2:45 last time, in a fully loaded van.
Had to travel down there in the day, it took over 4 hours :evil:0 -
yeh Newport is normally around the 3 hour mark, i normally try and drive in the evening, but have had one or two amazing trips where we have seen maybe 3 cars ont he way. and then others where it is the hell train of caravas and lorries 0
