Not happy this morning

It's getting lighter earlier in the mornings now, time for an early morning ride. Got up this morning, lots of energy, excited to be getting out. Looked out of the window at 6 o'clock at the fog. FOG. Whats that all about! Ok, delay the start for a bit. Push harder. Might be a little bit later starting work but should still get a good 25 in.
Set off, once it had got a bit clearer, at about 7. Had to stop a little way in to switch my rear light on, getting foggy again. Then after about 4.5 miles, puncture! Haven't had one in ages so I guess I was about due. But not this morning. Not on a ride that is tight for time.
Changed the tube by the roadside. Had to mess about with the new pump to get it to work (why didn't I read the instructions!) It's now about 8 o'clock. I wanted to be back for 8:30 and have got about 20 miles to do. Turned around and went home. Dispondant, certainly not very happy.
Oh well. It's the weekend tomorrow. Saturday morning ride, then try again next week.

Weather and a puncture are out of your control, it just happens. At least you got out for a few minutes0

I was a bit too eager taking the lights off the bike and storing the batteries away as it's now "summer". But it was still dark at 6.15am when I planned to set off on my early morning ride.
15 minutes later, lights all re-attached, it's got light anyway  :evil:Wind. Cold. Rain. Pick two.0 -
I think its always a good idea to keep at least the rear light on until its really summer. just for those foggy rainy days.0

Good on ya for being able to get up early enough. I struggle to get to sleep early enough.
As for lights, even in glorious sunshine I have my rear light on. Reason being that tree cover makes for quite a contrast and eyes take a bit of time to adjust. Given the fact that I can get a dozen AAA's at Poundland it seems seems silly not to keep the light going. I have a knog frog too on the front, set on pulse mode.0 -
Sounds frustrating...I had got about half a mile from my house this morning when my chain broke on a hill. It was fortunate I was sitting down. A 10 minute fix and I was off, but I was nervous for the rest of the ride. I made sure I degreased and lubed the chain when I got home. I also need to buy some sunscreen!0
