Been looking at one of these for short rides, I have a spare bottle cage so thought I could put to some use.

Does anyone use one of these? if so what can you fit in them?

Need to carry a 26" spare tube, puncture kit, multi-tool and maybe phone, I don't like saddle bags or bags what attach to the frame.

I have a Hawg camelbak but seems a bit overkil on short 2 hour rides.

Cheers

Pete

They are neat, considered getting one for my road bike when I only need to use 1 bottle, as I also hate saddle bags. Cant see any reason why not to use one, apart from people will see you, point, then laugh

Have the 500mm on my commute bike for years as I have 2 cages. I have in it, tube , levers, tools and puncture outfit.

    Simple and practical.

    I have both.
The 500ml one will be too small for a mountain tube and kit. :?
The 750ml is getting a bit big, you will need to pack it so the weight is in the bottom or you’re going to lose it.
Have small saddle packs on my road bikes but when I fitted a dropping seat post the cable got in the way and the weight is not good.
Normally mountain bike with a back pack but for short trips or in the heat Its handy to have the stuff on the bike.

  • Anything under 2 hours I just carry stuff about my person.

    A pouch containing a CO2 inflater and a micropump.
A puncture kit that also has a couple of powerlinks and glueless patches.
    A topeak hexus multitool.
    Spare tube.
    Phone.

Mixed between cargo pockets on my shorts and the rear pockets on my top.
On other rides this all gets dumped straight into the small compartment on my Mule.

I like to have puncture repair and a small tool on the bike so not to forget it.
For me a seat bag is the best.
Once stuffed a light rain jacket into an old water bottle with the top cut off. It started to rain and there was no way to get the effin thing out.

I use a normal waterbottle with a wide neck, same as the one next to it which is full of drink. People are less likely to nick a skanky bottle full of someone else's spit than one that looks like it might contain a tube, tools, food, money, phone and stuff. As long as the bottle's not opaque or see through. I make sure that both bottles look equally well used and scuffed.

I use a water bottle for a spare tube, pump, levers, allan keys, patches. All squeezed in and looks more eye pleasing than a saddle bag.

Only problem is when I do a longer ride and I need two bottles of liquid, then it all comes out and gets stuffed in pockets.
