selle itallia SL on a road bike

I like the look of this saddle but notice it is a MTB saddle.
Couple of questions:
- Has anyone used this on a road bike (esp when going hard)
- The saddle has a glossy coating, would this be too slidy for road riding?
- Are magnesium rails quite forgiving?
Also, are there any other selle itallia saddles like the SL (i.e. a 143mm width). SLR and flite seem to be narrower.
Thanks

I have just put the SL T1 on my road bike. First long ride on it today and it was fab. The glossy finish seemed to help reduce friction and I didn't slide about at all. The extra padding in the nose helped a lot when I was really going for it on the drops. 50 miles at nearly 20mph ave and no aches downstairs.Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?

While I haven't used the Selle Italia SL, I have used other mountain bike saddles on my road bike. It is worth trying and if it is comfortable then you should use it, whether it is a mtb saddle or not. Whatever works for you.0
