So went to a parent evening at my daughters school regarding her trip to Wales in May.
Looks Mint, stopping at a place near Maentwrog on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. Day 2 they are going onto the Snowdon Range following the Miners Track, but only up to Lyn Llydaw as insurance does not allow them to take 9 and 10 year olds above a certain height.
They did a slide show and my mouth was literally watering. The terrain looked pretty rough potentially bike breaking so i doubt its an mtb route, but stuff it im going to dust off my walking boots and get my arse up there before this year is out.
You welshies are jammy gits, yes i know your weather is crap, but when the drizzle clears what a magnificent view :P
Im sure this thread will get some 'headturned backwards' comments but stuff it

Its fantastic up there, I remember the first time I climbed Snowdon, it was a grey old day so I had my trousers and jacket on, but as I started climbing got pretty warm so I zipped off the legs of my walking trousers and took off my jacket. As we hit the ridge the wind was so fierce and icy all of the sweat on my arms and legs froze almost instantly. I didn't want to stand about in it either so I had to plough on up to the sumit dressed for the beach.
It is breathtaking up there though0 -
there are trails up there you can ride but only certain months of the year.
i have seen peeps riding down, but i wouldn't want to ride up, I'd get the train!0 -
We are pretty lucky I 'spoze.... not quite as dramatic as N.wales here... but sweet coastline and some decent waves make up for it...I like bikes and stuff0

Me and Richie should be going that day after a couple of days riding here on the IOM.0 -
i climbed it when we had a huge amount of snow about a year ago.
we had to climb with ice axes and crampons!0 -
oh oh oh cc ride it is!
shall we start a new thread for this, see if anyone else would be in?0 -
Just looked at some pictures from up there, looks amazing man!

I'd like to get over to do some "proper" riding in Wales (or Scotland, or the Peaks, etc). But mostly it's a case of what I can do in a day as I'm unfortunately fairly restricted by Ferry times, 1st one gets in to L'pool @10am last one leaves @ 7pm. Anything outside that involves an overnight stay, meals, petrol etc which all costs extra money.
'degla is good for a larf, and it's not a bad choice for a CC ride because all levels of rider should be able to manage it without getting out of their depth (even me).0 -
Of course, Manx folk are hunted like the dogs that they are after sundown, so there's no possibility of them staying over.0

Ah yes, we have laws like that too. You can shoot a Scotsman if he's standing on Peel beach at low tide on New Years day, or something like that.0 -
I don't get it, you're always moaning about "oh it has to be within a day's travel" etc.
Real people (people not from the Isle of Man, who are all made up), have the same problem if we're going somewhere far, you know.0
