Unwanted play/movment on Rebba forks.

I've got some RS Rebba SL's from 07. When holding the front break and rocking the bike forward there is some movment. At first i thought it was the head set so tried adjusting but its fine and deffinatly no movment. On closer inspection I noticed that there is some movment somewhere between the lower legs of the forks and the upper tube chamber (or stantion, not sure how to spell!). There is no noticable movment around the seals but seems lower down inside the fork. Will also move when moving side to side. Movement is about 3mm ish.
Would a sevice sort this out? Or is it somthing more specific? I wouldn't have the confidence to attempt a service myself so was looking at pace for a service. I've not serviced them before. I allways clean upper tubes and seals after every ride.
Any advise would be apreciated. Cheers.

quick update. It was the cones on my hub! They needed tightening. Really did seem like the shock was moving. Took my wheel off to check out the shoks further but noticed cones not tight. sorted now.
