The "Furious" Fred is a top notch tyre and you will roll faster, BUT, it's designed to be a lightweight race tyre - for dry cross country tracks......and comes with a top notch price tag!!
If you're using your bike to commute, or just do a lot of road miles, you'd be better with something with a little more puncture protection. If weight isnt an issue to you, i'd recommend the Schwalbe Marathon Plus in a 26 x 1.75 or there abouts. Rolls well and offers possibly the best puncture protection of any tyre.......
There's loads of semi slick tyres out there that'll do the job. I'd recommend just going into your local bike shop (preferably one that sells Schwalbe) and look through the options.
......I wouldnt say the Furious Fred is right for what you're riding0 -
+1 what FunBus said, some other options though for road and easy dry trails,
continental - town and country.
specialized - crossroads armadillo elite. (pretty much puncture proof)0 -
thanks guys your awesome ill have a closer look into it. Like i said i dont go off road i i want to increase speed but as i my area is very bumpy i wouldnt be able have a full on road bike0

the weight is an issue and im tempted to go with the Fusion Fred i dont mind to much about the puncture protection ill just buy another tyre not to much of a big deal0

Just wait till it's cold/darkj/wet or all three and you get a puncture, then we'll see if weight and protection is an issue 8)0 -
i dont ride in them conditions. ive been looking at a Ribble Sportive Bianco Shimano. Im tempted to sell a few things i dont need to buy one0

I've just built myself a HT Kona that I use for 34mile commutes to work and I do a mixture of light Trail riding and plenty of road riding. The roads around Sheffield are awful and as such I've gone for a 26x1.90 Schwalbe Black Jack http://www.schwalbe.co.uk/c2-1062-schwalbe-tires-black-jack.html
They seem to roll pretty well as I cover ground much quicker & easier than my 26x2.25 Schwalbe Nobby Nics.0 -
cool ill have a look at that too id love a road bike but like you the roads where i live are too bad pot holes sizes of mines haha0

I have some Schwalbe City Jets on my HT, they are very good and cheap. Don't bother with semi-slicks if you're not going off road, just go for slicks.XC: Giant Anthem X
Fun: Yeti SB66
Road: Litespeed C1, Cannondale Supersix Evo, Cervelo R5
Trainer: Bianchi via Nirone
Hack: GT hardtail with Schwalbe City Jets0 -
If you're just riding on the road you don't want any tread.
The Furious Fred really won't last, they're designed to be a top of the line race tyre for dry conditions, not a road tyre.
A 26x1.0 Spesh All Conditions ATB will be lighter, faster, and more puncture resistant.0 -
+1 for the city jets0

All about the Specialized Nimbus with Armadillo protection 26 x 1.5.
I an a nooby to road riding and put these on my single speed and have found that they offer very good grip and low rolling resistance.
Got them from Evans on a price match - £40 pair

Just for road use, either get a slick, or something like a Halo Twinrail. Which also come in mad colours (see the bike in my sig for proof! )0
