Garmin Edge 705

Hi all

Looking to buy myself a garmin 705. The main reason for this is it has
Turn by turn navigation. Just wondering if any one on this site has one and
If so would you recommend it? Best price i can find is £225 is this a good price or could i get it cheaper??

Forget the edge 705 navigation is okay but not brill, get the all singing all dancing top edge unit

Cheers for that but dont have the money for the edge 800

the great thing about the 705 is along with gps navigation, you can use that in reverse and log where youve been afterwards. also youve got HRM, cadence (if you buy the unit) and if/when you get a power meter itll do that too. plus its wireless. plus you can use it to set alarms for intervals at set times or set HR zones etc. you will become addicted to looking at your stats.

Don't get me wrong I have an Edge 705 and I love it. You need a cadence and heart rate monitor to get the most out of it. I always found the display for the mapping a bit fiddly read.

I don't bother with cadence (although I do get a reading from my powertap, I'm not remotely interested). A HR strap is good though.

They are good IMHO. Tho mine did break recently it went back to Garmin under warranty and I got a new one in a week with a new set of accessories (inc. new heart rate strap) so v pleased with their service. Dont waste money of their maps though, get the free OSM maps.

The price of the 705 keeps falling! About a year ago, the cheapest I could find was Handtec at £270ish, now it's less that £200! I keep holding off buying waiting for the price to reach rock bottom but it keeps on falling... When to buy? That's the question...
